Few RVers know that there are camping facilities with hookups that offer either free stay or ask for a small donation. All free overnight RV parking stations have dumping stations and water and many of them have electric and water facilities. A few of them have full hookups too. One such free campsite is Waylon Jennings Park in Littlefield. RV Camping: While driving your RV up the Atlantic Coast, it's always nice to have a reliable place where you can rest and relax. Our RV Sites make it a cinch to park your rig and set up camp. Plus, they feature full-hookups, waste disposal, 30- and 50-amp service and some campgrounds even offer RV Sites with a KOA Patioâ„¢. Description Located in the rural Northern Neck of Virginia, Belle Isle was the first state park to be purchased with funds from the $95 million 1992 Parks and Recreational Facilities Bond Referendum. The 892 acre site is a window to the beautiful lower Rappahannock River in Lancaster County.

Bellaire Campground is located 47 miles northwest of Fort Collins, Colo., near the Red Feather Lakes village. Visitors enjoy the area for its canoeing, fishing and trail opportunities.

The campground offers accessible single, double and triple family sites with electric hookups. Five additional sites are designated for tent camping and do not have hookups. Each site contains a tent pad, picnic table and campfire ring with grill.
Flush toilets, vault toilets and drinking water are provided. Dead and downed firewood may be gathered in the forest or purchased from the campground host.

Notifications and Alerts

  • Due to wildfires at the end of the season, all Canyon Lakes Ranger District facilities are closed until after they are certified as safe for use next spring.

  • No RV water connections are available.

  • Off-road vehicles and horses are not allowed in the campground
  • Extra parking is not available

  • Come with your RV/trailer water tank filled. Filling at campground hydrants cross-contaminates the system and is not allowed.

Natural Features

The campground is comprised of rolling hills, pine forests and unique rock formations. It sits near Bellaire Lake at an elevation of 8,600 feet. Afternoon thunderstorms can be expected during spring and summer months.
Due to the mountain pine beetle infestation and the removal of hazardous trees, there may be little to no shade in the campground.

Nearby Attractions

The small village of Red Feather Lakes is nearby, offering limited dining options, gift shops, general stores, a library, post office and a golf course.

Recreation

Canoeing and fishing are popular activities on 10-acre, no-wake Bellaire Lake. Anglers cast for rainbow and brook trout, among other species. The campground is within walking distance of the lake via an accessible boardwalk. Several additional lakes are in the vicinity.
Many hiking, biking and horseback riding trails are in the surrounding area, including the 1.25-mile Molly Lake Trail and 4-mile Mount Margaret Trail. Several off-road vehicle trails are located within five miles of the campground.
Other popular activities include viewing wildlife and visiting nearby Redfeather Visitor Center.

Driving Directions

From Fort Collins, travel north on Highway 287 for 21 miles, to Livermore. Turn left onto Red Feather Lakes Road (County Road 74E) and travel 25 miles, just beyond the south side of Red Feather Lakes. Turn south onto County Road 69 and continue approximately 3 miles. The campground is located on the right.

General Information

Belle Isle has seven miles of shoreline on the Northern Neck's Rappahannock River and provides access to Mulberry and Deep creeks. The park lets visitors explore a wide variety of tidal wetlands interspersed with farmland and upland forests. It has a campground, three picnic shelters, hiking, biking and bridle trails, and motor boat and car-top launches. Belle Isle also offers overnight lodging at Bel Air and the Bel Air Guest House. Bicycle, canoe and kayak rentals are available. Guests also enjoy the park's universal access playground, boardwalk and fishing pier, and educational programs. The Bel Air historic area is ideal for weddings.

The diverse habitats found in the park provide homes to many predator birds, such as blue herons, osprey, hawks and bald eagles. White-tailed deer, turkeys, groundhogs, rabbits, squirrels, moles, reptiles and amphibians are also common. There are eight distinct types of wetlands within the park. These diverse ecosystems make Belle Isle an excellent outdoor laboratory for environmental education.

Location

Lancaster County on the Rappahannock River. From Warsaw, take State Route 3 East to SR 354. Turn right and follow for three miles. Turn right onto SR 683 at Somers to the park entrance. From Kilmarnock, take Route 3 West to Lively, then left on SR 201 for three miles, then right on SR 354 for three miles and left onto 683 to the park entrance.
